Alan Rydge is chairman and lead shareholder of cinema, hotel and ski-resort group EVT, formerly Event Hospitality & Entertainment.

He inherited the Greater Union cinema chain after his father died in 1980.

He's also chairman and the major shareholder of investment firm Carlton Investments.
