Albert Boehringer

Albert Boehringer derives his fortune from Boehringer Ingelheim, the world's largest privately-held pharmaceutical company founded by his grandfather with just 28 employees.

Founded in 1885 in Ingelheim am Rhein, Germany (and still headquartered there), its entrepreneurial roots date as far back to 1817.

The company employs 53,000 people worldwide and has a presence in 130 markets.

Some of its most well-known drugs include those that treat COPD, anti-coagulation and type 2 diabetes.

Albert along with 14 members of the family own equal parts of the company; they are part of the third, fourth or fifth generation.
