Biography

Alexander Savelyev is the controlling shareholder Bank of Saint Petersburg, which is among the 20 largest banks in Russia.

He was named CEO of the bank in 2001 and now owns about 27%, while his daughter and top managers control another 28%.

In 2022, while most Russian banks suffered losses, Bank of Saint Petersburg remained profitable.

Prior to entering the banking industry, Savelyev worked in several transport enterprises during the 1980s and 1990s.

The Bank of Saint Petersburg was sanctioned by U.S. Department of Treasury in 2023.
