Biography
Alexander Tkachev is the co-founder and controlling shareholder of Agrocomplex, one of Russia's largest agricultural & food producers.
His father, Nickolay, was a managing director of feed mill in Krasnodar Krai, a rural region in the South of Russia, which Tkachev began managing in 1990 and later re-branded it as Agrocomplex.
He began expanding by buying land during the country's privatization era, building it into Russia's second-largest landholder, with 1.23 million hectares (about 3 million acres) of agricultural land.
Agrocomplex' enterprises produce meat (beef, pork, poultry) and sausage products, dairy products and cheese, canned goods, sunflower oil, flour, sugar, sauces, etc.
In 2015-2018 Alexander Tkachev served as Minister of Agriculture of Russia; previously he was Governor of Krasnodar Krai.
