Biography
Carmen Riu Guell's fortune is derived from Riu Hotel & Resorts, which she owns and runs with her brother Luis Riu, also a billionaire.
She manages the business through the family's holding company, Saranja, which has a portfolio of 98 hotels in 21 countries.
Under her leadership as co-CEO, the group saw over $4.5 billion in revenue and $150 million in net profit in 2024.
Born in Mallorca, she is a third-generation heir of the Riu hospitality group, which she took over after her father's passing in the 1990s.
While not known for large-scale philanthropy, at least not publicly, she has backed local Balearic community projects and tourism-related initiatives.
