Biography

Chen Guodong draws his wealth from a stake in Chinese jewelry maker Laopu Gold.

Dubbed by consumers as "Hermes of gold jewelry," the luxury brand features traditional Chinese design and craftsmanship.

It went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2024.

An individual investor, Chen also made investments in real estate, IT and biotech. He worked for over two decades at China's IT conglomerate Legend Holdings until 2016.

He held a teaching post for four years at Renmin University of China after graduating there with a master's degree in economics and management.
