Chris Wanstrath cofounded software development platform GitHub in 2008.
Microsoft acquired the company for $7.5 billion in an all-stock deal in 2018. Wanstrath was the firm's largest individual shareholder.
In 2023, he cofounded a "developer-friendly" indie video game publisher called Null.
He serves on the board of the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.
