Biography

Dani Reiss took over as CEO of outerwear company Canada Goose in 2001.

His grandfather, a Polish immigrant, launched the Toronto-based retailer as Metro Sportswear in 1957.

Today the company is known for its down jackets, which cost over $1,000 and are a favorite among celebrities like Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone.

Reiss took Canada Goose public in March 2017; he owns about 18% of the stock.

He has pledged to keep manufacturing in Canada and employs more than 3,400 people.

About

His first business venture, in high school, was buying baseball cards he thought were undervalued and trying to sell them at a profit.

In the early 2000s, Reiss walked down Queen Street in Toronto trying to get stores to carry his coats. Every single one said no.
