Biography
David Murdock is the former chairman of Dole Food Products.
He stepped down from Dole's board in 2021 ahead of the company's IPO after over 35 years in charge.
After a stint in the army during World War II, he made a small profit buying and selling a diner; later, he developed property in Arizona.
Through Castle & Cooke holdings, he owns a collection of residential and commercial properties in Arizona, California and Hawaii.
He has a collection of Arabian horses.
About
Murdock has vowed to live until age 125 and has donated heavily to longevity research.
Murdock, who is dyslexic, dropped out of high school in the ninth grade and worked at a gas station before being drafted into the Army in 1943.
