Biography
Megadealer David Nahmad owns a stockpile of modern and impressionist art, stored in a duty-free warehouse in Geneva, Switzerland.
Nahmad's inventory includes more than 30 blue chip artists, from Monet and Matisse to Renoir and Rothko. He buys and sells mainly at auction.
Among the holdings: 300 Picassos, worth at least $1 billion. The whole collection is worth an estimated $7 billion. He splits the art assets with the heirs of his late brother, Ezra.
David also trades a currency and stock portfolio worth more than $400 million.
About
David's son Hillel runs the Helly Nahmad Gallery in the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan. His nephew runs a gallery by the same name in London.
David's younger son Joe runs the Nahmad Contemporary gallery on Manhattan's Madison Avenue. His nephew, also named Joe, runs the Nahmad Projects gallery in London.
