David Thomson is one of six billionaire heirs to the media and publishing empire founded by his grandfather Roy Thomson (d. 1976).
The family's biggest holding: more than 310 million shares of Thomson Reuters, where Thomson serves as chairman.
Thomson owns around 14% of the business through the family's investment firm, Woodbridge.
