Biography
Desseigne lords over Groupe Lucien Barrière, which owns 34 casinos, 18 luxury hotels and more than 120 bars and restaurants.
One of France's largest casino groups, the group employs around 7,000 people and brings in nearly $1.2 billion in annual revenues.
His late wife, Diane Barriere, inherited the company from her father.
Diane was badly injured in a 1995 plane crash that left her confined to a wheel chair; she died in 2001.
Desseigne took the reins in 1997 and became CEO the year Diane died; he has two children from his marriage to Diane.
About
Desseigne owns 60% of the company while France's financial services giant, Fimalac, owns the remaining 40%.
GLB installed 46 bee hives across their hotels, including Deauville, Dinard, Paris, Enghien, Cannes, which produce over 400 kilos of honey annually.
