Biography

In 1957, Erik Paulsson, then 17, and his younger brother Mats founded a waste management company to service the local farmers in the south of Sweden.

The company, later named PEAB, expanded to construction in 1970, the industry it's known for today.

While Mats and his family still control the company, Erik has divested into spin-offs of several PEAB property management entities.

His most valuable holdings are Fabege, Catena and Wihlborgs Fastigheter, all real estate companies traded on the Stockholm stock exchange.

In 2018, Paulsson retired from all board seats of the public companies in his portfolio but remains chairman of his investment entity, Backahill AB.

About

In deciding who would get what in the division of PEAB, Paulsson and his brother reportedly flipped a coin.

Paulsson was charged for bribery after winning the contract to build Sweden's new 65,000 seat national football arena in 2011. The court cleared him of all charges.
