Biography
Gabriella Meister and her daughter Franziska Wuerbser, who is also a billionaire, are among four family heirs who inherited 63% of kitchen appliance manufacturer Rational AG.
Gabriella's late husband, Siegfried Meister, founded the company in 1973 and died in 2017, at age 78.
Rational has more than a 50% share of the global market for multifunctional food preparation appliances used in large-scale and commercial kitchens.
The company's products include ovens, steamers and grills.
Rational, which went public in 2000, has grown consistently without acquisitions, and prides itself on innovative, energy-efficient technology.
About
Siegfried Meister had the idea to cook using steam after disliking how food was prepared at restaurant chain Wienerwald, where he worked previously.
Rational employs over 250 professional chefs, and its products are used in the White House and Buckingham Palace.
