Biography
Georg Nemetschek is the founder and deputy chairman of publicly traded German software company Nemetschek Group.
He started using design software in his own engineering office in the late 1960s, long before computers became available for personal use.
The company, which serves the architecture, engineering and construction industries, went public in 1999 and has annual revenue of about 1 billion euros.
Nemetschek Group expanded into 3D animation and motion design, securing access to the media industry. Its software has around six million users.
In 2020, Georg launched the Nemetschek Innovation Foundation to support scientific research and artificial intelligence in the construction industry.
About
In 1971, he was appointed as a professor at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. He served as dean of the Civil Engineering department from 1977 to 1996.
His son Ralf is chairman of the family's Nemetschek foundation, founded in 2007 to strengthen democracy in Germany.
