Biography

A Wall Street veteran, Henry Swieca cofounded hedge fund firm Highbridge Capital Management in 1992 with childhood friend Glenn Dubin.

The duo sold part of the business to JP Morgan Chase in 2004 and the rest in 2009.

After the sale Swieca opened Talpion Fund, which manages his own fortune. The name Talpion comes from the Biblical word Talpiot, meaning a castle's turret.

Talpion's portfolio includes real estate and startup cash for new money management firms.

A son of Polish holocaust survivors, Swieca started off his career at Merrill Lynch, where he got the job by knocking on the doors of Manhattan banks.

About

Swieca learned stock investing from his dentist uncle, and turned to the market to fund his and his brother's education after losing both of his parents at age 19.

Highbridge was named after an aqueduct that connected New York City's Washington Heights (where Swieca was raised) and the Bronx.
