Biography

Juan Abelló's fortune is derived from Torreal, a family-owned global investment firm, which he founded after selling off his family's pharmaceutical assets in the early 1980s.

Established in 1990, Torreal invests broadly across sectors and regions and owns stakes in both public and private companies.

In 2020, Miguel Abelló, Juan's son, was appointed as the executive president of Torreal, while Juan Abelló assumed the role of honorary president.

Abelló has an extensive art collection which includes about 800 works, including those by Rembrandt, Goya, Picasso and Francis Bacon.
