Biography
Juan Miguel Villar Mir's company, Grupo Villar Mir, controls construction firm Obrascon Huarte Lain and metals firm Ferroglobe, among others.
His son, Juan Villar-Mir de Fuentes, chairs Obrascon Huarte Lain, which is publicly traded and known as OHL.
Ferroglobe was created in 2015 as a result of a merger of its silicon producer, Grupo Ferro Atlántica, and metal firm Globe Specialty Metals.
His group also owns fertilizer producer Fertiberia.
Another group asset: VM Energia, the largest independent producer of hydroelectric power in Spain.
About
He briefly served as Spain's finance minister and deputy prime minister in the 1970s.
In 2011 the King of Spain gave Villar Mir the title of marquis.
