Biography
Keith Bentley and his brother Barry founded infrastructure engineering software provider Bentley Systems in 1984.
The company, which went public in 2020, develops and sells computer-aided design (CAD) software for architects and engineers working on public and industrial infrastructure.
Keith was CEO from 1984 until 2000 when he became the chief technology officer. He retired in 2023 but remains on the board.
He developed the program that would evolve into MicroStation, the company's flagship platform that creates precise 3D models.
The $1.5 billion (sales) company remains majority owned by the Bentley family.

In July 2024, Nicholas Cumins became CEO, the first non-family member to lead the company.
Keith worked more than 100 hours a week while developing the first version of MicroStation.
