Biography

Lucy Guo cofounded data labeling giant Scale AI, and founded and runs creator platform Passes.

Guo ranked as the world's youngest self-made woman billionaire from April 2025 to December 2025.

The daughter of electrical engineers who emigrated from China, Guo taught herself to code in elementary school so that she could adopt virtual pets in a game called Neopets.

She studied computer science and human-computer interactions at Carnegie Mellon University but dropped out before graduating to become a Thiel Fellow.

Guo launched Scale AI in 2016 but left in 2018 amid a falling out with her cofounder, Alexandr Wang. She still owns roughly 3% of the company, which is the source of most of her fortune.

In June 2025, Meta bought 49% of Scale AI for about $14 billion and Scale paid its shareholders a hefty dividend.

She founded Passes, a platform for creators and celebrities to connect with fans that's similar to Patreon and OnlyFans, in 2022; she is CEO and has raised $50 million from investors.
