Madeleine's father, Sten, founded Stena in 1939 as a trading company.

Her brother Dan took over in 1983 and now owns 51% of the company. Madeleine and her brother Stefan Olsson own 12.5% and 24.5%, respectively.

Madeleine's children, Gustav and Marie, each own 6% and have seats on different boards in the company.

She became the first of her family to go to college, earning a degree in medicine and pursuing a career as a gynecologist.

Aside from an 12.5% stake in Stena, she is also part owner of a clinic in Gothenburg.
