Biography
Maren Otto is the third wife of the late Werner Otto, who began a retail empire by founding a mail-order business in Hamburg in 1949.
She inherited a stake in the family's Otto Group and its more than 40 companies in retail (Crate and Barrel), real estate and financial services.
She's also a shareholder of ECE, the family's commercial real estate company focused on shopping centers. Her son Alexander is CEO.
With Alexander and her daughter, Katharina, she shares a 14% stake in Paramount Group, which owns and manages office properties in the U.S.
Katharina, Alexander and her stepson, Michael, are also billionaires.

Her daughter, Katharina Otto-Bernstein, writes and produces art movies in the U.S.
Stepson Michael Otto ran Otto Group for 26 years until 2007. He is now chairman of its supervisory board.
