Biography
Martin Naughton is the owner of Glen Dimplex, a manufacturer of consumer appliances like washing machines, hair dryers and space heaters.
As a student, Naughton spent months in hands-on aeronautical and mechanical engineering training.
He founded Glen Electric with a handful of people in 1973 and started off selling oil-filled radiators.
Four years later he acquired the much larger British heating company Dimplex, renaming it Glen Dimplex.
Naughton stepped down as president in April 2016 and his youngest son Fergal took over as CEO.
About
Naughton is a trustee emeritus at the University of Notre Dame where he funds a student exchange fellowship between the university and leading Irish universities.
Naughton is the co-owner of Patrick Guilbaud, the only restaurant in Ireland with two Michelin stars.
