Melchior Oeri is a descendant of Fritz Hoffmann-La Roche, founder of Switzerland-based pharma behemoth Roche.
Oeri joined the Forbes billionaires ranks in 2026 after his billionaire mother, Maja, split her inheritance of Roche shares with him.
The family pooled their shares together in 1948, which has allowed them to continue voting control of Roche, the maker of blockbuster drugs like Tamiflu and Valium.
His mother split away from the family voting block in 2019, which disclosed her individual holdings and diminished the family's majority control of the company.
