Biography
Chartered accountant Motilal Oswal cofounded and chairs Mumbai-headquartered Motilal Oswal Financial Services.
From a small stock brooking outfit, Oswal and his billionaire business partner Raamdeo Agrawal, grew it into a financial services firm.
In their early days, the duo would walk a mile from the Bombay Stock Exchange to the nearest payphone to take orders from clients.
Son of a grain trader, Oswal was the first person in his family to go to college.
In 2023, he and cofounder Agrawal pledged to donate 5% of their respective holdings in Motilal Oswal for philanthropic causes such as education, health and rural upliftment.

When he was starting out, Oswal was turned down by 60 accountancy firms because he couldn't speak English fluently.
Oswal is the chairman of the Jain International Trade Organisation.
