Biography

Park Hyeon-joo founded Mirae Asset Global Investments (formerly called Mirae Asset Investment Advisory) and a venture capital affiliate in 1997.

He is known as the father of South Korea's mutual fund industry and launched the country's first closed-end mutual fund in 1998.

Now operating in 16 markets, his firm has approximately $272 billion in assets under management.

The Mirae Asset Park Hyeon Joo Foundation provides scholarships to academically promising students from disadvantaged families.

In 2010, the Harvard Business School selected Mirae for a case study for its M.B.A. program.
