Biography

Peter Thomson is one of six billionaire heirs to the media and publishing empire founded by his grandfather Roy Thomson (d. 1976).

The family's biggest holding: more than 310 million shares of Thomson Reuters; Thomson is on Thomson Reuters' board of directors.

Thomson owns around 14% of the business through the family's investment firm, Woodbridge, where Thomson serves as chairman.

The family's other assets include the Toronto-based Global and Mail newspaper, and the Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets sports teams.
