Biography
Petro Poroshenko served as the president of Ukraine from 2014 to 2019, but made his fortune as Ukraine's "chocolate king."
Poroshenko got his start selling cocoa beans, then purchased several confectionery plants, uniting them under the company Roshen in 1995.
Roshen sells an estimated $800 million worth of chocolates, caramel, wafers, cakes and other confections across 35 countries.
His net worth fell by more than half after Russia invaded Ukraine as his confectionery firm Roshen was forced to shut two factories in Kyiv and nearby Boryspil.
