Biography

Samuel Barata owns just over half of Drogarias DPSP, one of Brazil's largest drugstore chains.

The company was formed in the 2011 merger of Drogaria Pacheco, owned by Barata, and Drogaria Sao Paulo, owned the Carvalho family.

The company had 2017 revenues of about $2.4 billion, and has more than 1,000 stores in 10 Brazilian states.

One of Brazil's oldest companies, Drogaria Pacheco was founded in 1892 and acquired by Barata in the 1970s.
