Biography
Schuurman cofounded Elastic, a Netherlands-based software company that went public in 2018 on the NYSE.
Elastic creates software for search, data and analytics purposes.
Schuurman, who has a nearly 6% stake in Elastic, first became a billionaire in 2018.
He served as Elastic's CEO from 2012 to 2017, and still sits on its board of directors.
He cofounded another software company, SpringSource, which was acquired by VMware in 2009 for $420 million.

Some of Schuurman's hobbies include cooking and playing guitar.
He also founded and chairs FutureNL, a non-profit that supports digital literacy in Dutch primary and secondary schools.
