Walter Kortschak

Walter Kortschak is an investor who joined growth equity firm Summit Partners in 1989. He spent 26 years there as an active partner.

At Summit, some of his biggest tech bets and buyouts were E-Tek Dynamics (a 40x return) and networking company Xylan (127x).

Kortschak now invests solo, with early bets on such outfits as The Trade Desk and Robinhood.

At first, Kortschak wanted to be a software engineer, but got into venture investing after business school at UCLA.

He also owns 2,800 acres in Kauai, Hawaii, including a ranch where Jurassic Park was filmed.
